By: Marvin Bouknight It looks like we’ve got our first eastern bluebird fledglings!  Bluebirds nest early and here in the Lowcountry, they can have two, even three broods during the summer. If you watch your boxes closely, and know when all the birds have fledged, you can remove the nest from the box to prepare it for the next nesting cycle. Don’t worry if you’re not that tuned into your box’s inhabitants. It is also perfectly fine to leave the material in there. Many times, they will build right on top of the old nest, but for better chances of nesting success, you can remove the nest after the young have vacated the box.
