The cool temperature today is no indication of spring, but spring is here and our neotropical birds are starting to arrive. Birds like warblers, flycatchers, tanagers, vireos and many more are starting to appear in and around the Lowcountry. Neotropical birds include one of the most beautiful and striking birds, the swallow-tailed kites. I saw my first kite of the year about a month ago, but had not seen any since. Today changed that, as I saw that beautiful black and white bird with a forked tail flying over the pastures up front! Keep your eyes peeled and on the lookout for our summer residents. It’s a sure sign of spring and summer!
