Sometimes the best exercise isn’t really exercise. We have such a wonderful playground right in our own backyard that I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get my fitness class out of the gym and on to the water.
The tide was high and the sun was bright so we dropped in the kayaks and paddled up and down the Okatie River for a glorious 2 ½ hours. For some it was their first time out on a kayak, for others it was all about the relaxation of being on the water. And because it was high tide, we were able to paddle through the tall grass and discover little nooks and crannies along the way.
We saw a Dolphin, a Ray and tons of Menhaden; we would have missed it all had we stayed in.
Remember, you don’t have to lift weights or run on a treadmill to get your exercise, it may be right out your backdoor. And sometimes just the change of scenery is just what you need to perk up your routine and your spirit.
