SARAH MOLESKY, Equestrian Center Director The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity, the optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty. Reflecting on this past year, I choose to focus on the opportunities that lay ahead for us. We look forward to returning to a bit of “normal” after the trials of 2020. With offering new programs such as group beach trail rides on the beautiful Seabrook island and the historic Middleton planta- tion, there will be something for everyone—and no experience is necessary for these trips. In addition to exciting new programming, the Equestrian Center and Sports Club are colla- borating on a Horse and Human Wellness Expo planned for this March. We are also excited about the return of the highly anticipated Kentucky Derby Party, Easter Egg Extravaganza, Hayshed Movie Nights, and two scheduled horse shows through the SCDCTA. The Oldfield show team grew in both numbers and accomplishments in 2020. The team consisted of Sarah Elliot and Willow, JJ Stratmann and Chance, DeeDee Lawrence and Whimsy (returning to the show ring after a decade hiatus), Angela Bellantone and Jameson, Kim Annunziata with Josh and Bogart, Madison Tsakanikas and Sonja, Abbigail Justice and Tate, Cora Cunningham and Sonja, Jessica Hansen and Sophia, and Sarah Molesky with Pie and Lexie. We finished the year with many blues and few noted accomplishments from the South Carolina Combined Test and Training Association (www.scdcta.com). The SC- DCTA is an organization that is highly recognized in South Carolina and, through USDF/ USEA, encourages the growth of dressage and combined training in the state of South Carolina and beyond. They promote, support, and organize equestrian competitions and tra- ining sessions. All of the events benefit the Equestrian community and promote camaraderie amongst group members. The Oldfield Equestrian Center is a current business partner of the SCDCTA, and we look forward to the shows planned for 2021.
