Camp Survivor: Bees

During Survivor Camp this summer, we invited our Oldfield beekeepers, Jan Brown and Will Worthy of Mrs. B Honey, as special guests to teach us all about beekeeping. The children learned about bees, their hives, and their importance in our ecosystem. After taste testing several local Honey’s, they painted our community hives which will house the bees that produce our tasty Oldfield Honey!! The kids were absolutely fascinated with the observation hive where you could see live bees working in their hive! The beekeepers also showed them their bee suits, some equipment they use and a lot of great pictures of what goes on in a beehive.
