CAPT. JASON DuBOSE – Outfitters Center Director & Head River Pro With the Holiday season upon us it’s easy to get caught in the hustle and bustle of parties, shopping, parades and other festivities. While all these activities are certainly fun and help us celebrate the season, let’s face it…..sometimes we just need a break. What better way to decompress than by spending a little time on the water or in the field! The Oldfield Outfitters Center has plenty of options for our community’s sporting men and women to enjoy a day outdoors in December. A 4 hour inshore fishing charter is a great way for Oldfield anglers and guests to get in some quality time on the water. Spotted sea trout and redfish are the primary target species when fishing the pristine inshore waters; however, black drum and flounder are also commonly caught in some of the areas we frequently fish. Up to four anglers can be accommodated on an inshore trip and at the member rate of $300 for the boat (non-member rate = $500); it is truly a great deal. Nearshore wreck fishing is also a great option for those anglers looking for action and variety! Sheepshead, blackdrum, grey trout, and redfish can all be found on the nearshore wrecks and artificial reefs during the cooler months. If this sounds like something you would like to try, consider joining the nearshore wreck fishing group trip on December 9th. Spaces are limited so waste no time getting your reservation in! If a day in the field sounds appealing you should consider joining us on Wednesday the 23rd for an afternoon of sporting clays at beautiful Turkey Hill Plantation. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, this shoot is a great way to have fun and meet some of Oldfield’s fellow sportsmen. Shotguns will be available for those who need them and basic shooting instruction will be provided for anyone that may be interested. For our wing-shooting enthusiasts we’ve arranged a group quail hunt at Legacy Hunt Club in Estill on the morning of the 18th. This is a four person hunt and will fill up quickly.
