Spring time in the Lowcountry is well underway! Here at the Equestrian Center we are wide open and full steam ahead with programming. Hayshed movie nights have returned; the annual Easter Egg Bonanza was a huge success! This year we added a mimosa bar in our in our newly renovated multipurpose show office to the event in addition to the always popular petting zoo, and the bouncy house! The Equestrian Center hosted the revived Kentucky Derby Party 2021 with an exciting menu designed by the ever talented Chef Cory. We thank everyone for participating in this event! A new element this year was a charitable compenent. Proceeds from a silent auction and squares game will be donated to fundraising efforts for the service dog to be named Oldfield in conjuntcion with the Wounded Heroes Golf Tournament on May 24th. This is a mission near and dear to our hearts here at the Equestrian Center! For more exciting news, Oldfield is scheduled to host the SCDCTA show series running from April-June. These are two day shows. The first day is for dressage, which is an Olympic level sport. Horse and rider pairs are judged on proficiency of different levels of riding where pairs are to remember a specific pattern and execute with accuracy, rhythm, and precision. Sundays are a combined test, or a two phase show. Riders must accurately execute a specific dressage test and then compete in a stadium pumping round held on grass turf. Speed and technical accuracy are the keys to winning, making it a fun event to watch! We encourage members to come down and enjoy the shows, which will also have food trucks and various vendors.
