Spring is back!  70’s and Sunny has been the norm for a number of weeks now; and with a few exceptions should hold relatively constant until the warmer summer months arrive.

With the warm weather, those looking to leverage current market conditions and enjoy the benefits of ownership have returned as well.  Oldfield, in particular, has seen steady sales activity through February and March.  With 12 properties either sold or under contract, Oldfield is off to a great start in 2011! In the coming months we look forward to introducing a new line of homes in Lakeside Village to compliment the new cottage collection in Lake Arrowhead.  While the first authentic Lowcountry Cottage collection in Lake Arrowhead are slated for completion this Spring, the Lakeside Village homes will break ground in the coming months with a targeted completion in early September.  Call one of our real estate professionals for details (843) – 645-2530. Life at Oldfield is as much about the surrounding lifestyle offerings as it is about the remarkable amenities and landscape at Oldfield.  To that end, we’ll try to update you from time to time regarding happenings in the Lowcountry.  Enjoy!

Events: “The Savannah Music Festival (March 24th – April 9th) is an expansive city-wide, multi-venue program showcasing a wide array of internationally acclaimed artists in over one hundred productions. Held annually in historic downtown Savannah, this 22nd season of Georgia’s largest festival – described by The Times of London as “one of the best events around the world”- features two premieres, numerous festival debuts, and the return of several audience favorites from the realms of classical, jazz, Americana and world music. In addition to a wealth of concert programming, SMF gives attendees a chance to hit the dance floor with four dance parties – Cuban, Cajun, Funk, and Zydeco music – scheduled throughout the festival.” http://www.savannahmusicfestival.org/ Dining: Oldfield members enjoy fantastic private dining at the Magnolia Grill and the River Club.  They also enjoy all of the culinary delights afforded them by nearby Beaufort, Bluffton, Hilton Head, and Savannah – all within a 5 to 30 minute drive.  On Hilton Head, in particular, a few of our favorites are Red Fish (Cuban Seafood) and Old Fort Pub (waterfront fine dining).  Check out the Island’s offerings (and related blogs) and see why even a Food Network star has opened up shop! http://www.hiltonheadisland.org/dining/

Places: “One of the only structures in Bluffton that was not burned by General William T. Sherman during the Civil War, the Church of the Cross is a Gothic Revival-style house of worship originally designed by Edward Brickell White, a prominent Charleston architect, in 1853. After construction was completed, the church’s first service took place in July of 1857. Located at 110 Calhoun Street, this historic house of worship overlooks the scenic May River and is home to an active congregation. Over the years, the Church of the Cross has survived hurricanes and wars, attracting new generations of worshipers for more than 150 years. Bluffton’s Church of the Cross, which has included on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975, features heart pine siding, a cruciform interior, cathedral ceilings and pink glass imported directly from England. Fanned arches with a look of palmettos top its mullioned windows that are framed by latticed shutters.” http://www.bluffton.com/church-of-the-cross-showcases-blufftons-history/
