The weather was perfect for a day on the River so I grabbed my board and off I paddled. Dolphins were everywhere but it’s not often you see a dog in a lifejacket swimming toward you.
This particular day I was greeted by Roddy Medder’s dog Cyrus. He loves the water and anyone on it and I was thrilled that he was swimming to me.
Reaching down and grabbing the little strap on his lifejacket, I assisted Cyrus up and onto my board. Off we went.
It was a little tricky at first, balancing myself was easy but with Cyrus walking back and forth, that took some concentration.
I am always in awe of where I live – the Lowcountry and the beauty it puts forth – but this day was a little on the magical side. I got to board with man’s best friend.
